AMD launches Helios AI rack system, wins Microsoft as Azure customer

AMD announced its first rack‑scale AI system, Helios, which integrates its Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, Pensando networking chips and ROCm software. Microsoft will deploy Helios in Azure, joining early adopters Meta, OpenAI and Oracle. The system is slated to ship to customers later in 2026. AMD says Helios will be the main driver of tens of billions of dollars in data‑center AI revenue from 2027 onward. The launch marks the first serious challenger to Nvidia’s >95% GPU market dominance.
