Pakistani security forces thwart suicide‑bomb plot in Wana, killing one militant

Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carried out an intelligence‑based operation in Wana, South Waziristan, that destroyed an explosives‑laden vehicle and a motorcycle intended for a suicide attack. One member of the Fitna al‑Khwarij group was killed and five others were injured. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the troops for averting a potentially devastating attack on civilians. The operation followed three days of surveillance, allowing the vehicle to be engaged after it moved away from populated areas.
