Nigerian Court Orders Final Forfeiture of 52 Lekki Luxury Units to Federal Government

A Federal High Court in Lagos has permanently transferred 52 terrace and maisonette units in the Lekki area to the Federal Government. The judgment, delivered by Justice Alexandra Owoeye, found the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had shown reasonable grounds to suspect the properties were proceeds of unlawful activities. The assets, located at Mercyville Estate, were linked to Fielddreams Limited, businessman Ifeanyi Nweke and Amex Savings and Loans Limited. The court rejected the respondents’ affidavit after identifying material contradictions, and noted that Nweke is a fugitive with two outstanding arrest warrants. The decision concludes a two‑year forfeiture process that began with an interim order in August 2024.
